FAQ

Questions about starting therapy

It is normal to have questions before contacting a therapist. These answers provide general guidance; the intake team can address details that depend on your clinician, plan, or situation.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a therapist?

Use the directory or complete Get Matched. The intake team can consider your goals, location, age group, schedule, insurance, and preferences.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes, for adults and college students who are physically located in Virginia at the time of the session. Children and most teens are seen in person; an older teen may occasionally meet online when a clinician agrees it is appropriate.

Do you accept insurance?

Seasons works with multiple plans. Participation varies by clinician and service, and coverage is determined by your plan.

Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Seasons does not currently offer sessions limited to evenings or weekends. If your schedule allows weekday daytime hours, the intake team can review availability with you.

Do you provide couples therapy?

Seasons primarily provides individual therapy for relationship concerns. If you are looking for support with a relationship, the intake team can talk through the options with you.

Do you take my insurance?

Seasons works with several major insurance plans. Coverage and clinician participation vary, so our intake team will help you review the options available for your needs and preferred location.

How do I know whether therapy is right for me or my child?

Therapy may be worth considering when emotions, behavior, relationships, stress, or a major life change are affecting daily life. You do not need to wait until things reach a crisis point to ask for support.

How soon can I start therapy?

Availability varies by therapist, location, insurance, and scheduling needs. After reviewing your information, our intake team will explain the available options and next steps.

Do you prescribe medication or provide psychological testing?

No. Seasons provides outpatient talk therapy. We do not offer psychiatric medication management or psychological testing, but we are happy to collaborate with your other providers.

Is therapy confidential?

Therapists protect confidentiality within legal and ethical limits. Your clinician will explain those limits and answer questions during intake.

What if I am in crisis?

Seasons does not provide emergency response. Call 911 for immediate danger or call/text 988 for crisis support in the United States.
