Online therapy in Virginia
Seasons offers secure video sessions for adults and college students who are located in Virginia and who prefer, or need, to meet online. Children and most teens are seen in person at one of our four offices.
In-person therapy is why most people choose Seasons, and it is what we recommend whenever it is workable. Online therapy exists for the adult whose job does not allow a mid-afternoon drive, the college student away at school, the parent without childcare, and the week when getting to an office is not realistic.
Sessions run over a secure, private video connection with the same licensed clinicians who see clients in our offices. The work itself is the same work: the same approaches and the same weekly rhythm.
Who we help online
Adults
Online therapy at Seasons is designed first for adults: anxiety, depression, panic, grief, stress, relationship concerns, and life transitions all translate well to video.
Therapy for adults →College students
Students at UVA and other Virginia colleges can keep a steady weekly session through the semester, over breaks, and across the move between campus and home, as long as they are in Virginia at session time.
Therapy for young adults →Older teens, occasionally
Seasons generally prefers to see teens in person. An older teen may occasionally meet online when their therapist agrees it fits, for example to keep continuity during a busy stretch.
Therapy for teens →Online therapy is not a normal option for younger children. Children are seen in person at one of our four offices, where play, art, and movement are part of the work.
Care available
Services vary by clinician and may include support for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, emotional regulation, relationships, and life transitions, along with CBT, EFIT, art therapy, or play therapy.

You must be in Virginia during the session
One requirement is not negotiable: you must be physically located in Virginia at the time of every online session, because that is where our clinicians are licensed to practice. If you will be travelling out of state, tell your therapist ahead of time so the session can be rescheduled.
What you need on your end
A device with a camera, a reliable internet connection, and a private space where you will not be overheard for the length of the session. Headphones help more than people expect. If privacy at home is the obstacle, say so; many clients take sessions from a parked car, and that works.
When in person is the better choice
Video is a harder fit for anyone whose situation calls for a higher level of care than outpatient talk therapy, and for children and most teens, whose therapy relies on play, movement, and being in the room. If you are unsure which is right, tell the intake team; they will be straight with you about which makes sense, and many clients combine both over time.
Insurance and fees
Seasons works with multiple insurance plans and offers self-pay options. Coverage depends on the plan, clinician, and service. Contact the intake team so benefits and fit can be reviewed. Insurance & fees →
